Juvenile counselors perform one of the most vital and rewarding of social duties: helping troubled youth become healthy, happy and productive members of society. Due to the serious, criminal situation of these offenders they often are re-emerging or detained in detention centers. Among other things, counselors must be mature, empathetic and objective all at the same time in order to assist the offenders. Counselors must be trustworthy and reliable. It is often required that counselors work independently in settings such as Detention Centers however, counselors must also be able to work as part of a team.
